All applicants must be interviewed prior to registration.

COURSE OFFERINGS

Refrigeration and Air Conditioning 450 Hours (RT-450)
This course provides 450 hours of instruction over 28 weeks or approximately seven months duration. Students first receive classroom instruction using computer imaging, as well as overhead projection, opaque projection, video, whiteboard, and good old-fashioned face-to-face communication. This course is a hands-on training course with intensive shop training. Every technician will be able to mechanically and electrically trouble-shoot and repair refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, as well as evacuate, dehydrate, and critically charge equipment. Our facility is equipped with three large shops and this is where the metamorphosis takes place and the student becomes the technician and qualified trouble-shooter.

Refrigerating System Operating Engineer 225 Hours (RSOE-225)
This advanced and intensive course provides 225 hours of instruction over 14 weeks or approximately three and a half months duration to prepare individuals to take and pass the FDNY’s RSOE-Q99 Exam. In addition to preparing our students to achieve this license, our first and foremost goal is to make them operating engineers. They learn system start-up, seasonal start-up, shut-down, seasonal shut-down and emergency shut-down, on low pressure centrifugal chillers, high pressure centrifugal chillers, steam turbine driven centrifugal chillers and reciprocating chillers. They also learn ammonia absorption chillers, and lithium bromide absorption chillers. This training provides them with the knowledge and confidence they need to go out into the field after licensure.

EPA Technician 608 Certification (EPA-608)
The purpose of this certification is to meet the legal requirements of Section 608 of the Federal Clean Air Act that requires that all persons who maintain, service, repair, or dispose of appliances that contain regulated refrigerants, be certified in proper refrigerant handling techniques as of November 14, 1994.

This course is a 16 hour training course that provides preparation and testing for Core, Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3 of the EPA Technician 608 Certification Exams. This license is important as our field evolves with new technology. We not only help license our students but we keep them abreast of all the changes in the industry to not only keep them current but to also keep them safe.
